Bend Test

Bend Test

WJMG performs bend test services to evaluate the ductility and soundness of metals and welded specimens. Our laboratory has the equipment and expertise to conduct bend testing in accordance with ASTM E290, as well as guided bend testing to support welder certification requirements under applicable AWS, API, and ASME welding codes.

During a bend test, a prepared specimen is bent to a specified angle or radius and then examined for cracking, fractures, or other surface irregularities. The results can provide valuable information about how a material or weld responds to deformation and whether the specimen satisfies the acceptance requirements of the applicable standard or code.

Experienced Welding and Mechanical Testing Support

Because WJMG combines mechanical testing capabilities with extensive welding and metallurgy expertise, our team understands the bend test within the broader context of weld quality and code compliance. WJMG also provides tensile testing, hardness testing, Charpy impact testing, fillet weld break testing, macro-etch examination, and other mechanical and metallurgical testing services.

Whether you’re testing for material evaluation, welding procedure qualification, or welder certification, WJMG can help determine the appropriate testing requirements and provide the technical expertise needed to complete the evaluation accurately.
